You'll be sure to love this cottage vacation home located near Colorado Bend State Park, Texas, United States. The 600-square-foot cottage has one bedroom and sleeps up to four guests. During your vacation stay you can kick back and relax on the high-fenced wildlife preserve or use it as a home base for hill country day trips. The newly remodeled cabin is rustic modern with pine plank walls, corrugated wainscoting, reclaimed cedar flooring, a horse trough shower, sliding barn doors, and cowhide rugs. The kitchenette has a 5-burner gas stove/convection oven, above stove programmable microwave, refrigerator, countertop ice maker, small appliances, cookware, and tableware. The cottage is surrounded by nature. The two-room cabin sleeps 2 adults and 2 children comfortably, the bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and the living room has a sofa that converts to two full-size twin beds with standard mattresses.
During your vacation stay you can watch the exotics graze nearby while you enjoy your first cup of coffee. Enjoy the serenades with 400 plus bird species that migrate through Edwards Plateau. Listen to the quiet and watch hawks soar as you sit on the banks of the Colorado River. Bathe your senses in the dazzling night skies. In season, walk through meadows of bluebonnets, wild geraniums, and evening primrose. The cottage has private river access with 1/2 mile of the river frontage is a short walk from your cabin. You can hike, fish, birdwatch, and picnic in the shade of native pecan trees. Two easy river launches for kayaks. Fresh-cut hiking trails wind from the river overlook down to its banks (not quite finished).
The cottage has a fenced yard, a covered porch, a hot tub, and a fireplace. There is ranch-style fencing that encloses a huge yard. A 32-inch covered porch that overlooks pastures with grazing wildlife. A few feet away, a towering rock fireplace, Nordic hot tub, and outdoor picnic area with charcoal grill are exclusive cabin amenities. The cottage is east of Andi's Cabin in Redbird Landing, a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom caravan that sleeps 8. Although the two lodgings sit side by side, they are designed to be occupied independently of one another, with separate amenities and a vine-covered privacy fence between them. The owners call the secluded village Fallow Run. Larger groups (12 to 14) can reserve the cabin and the caravan simultaneously.
Easy day trips (most an hour or less) include the historical towns of Bend, San Saba, Lampasas, Marble Falls, Johnson City, and Horseshoe Bay. State Parks and natural areas include Colorado Bend, Inks Lake, Longhorn Caverns, and Enchanted Rock. Historical landmarks in the area include the Regency Bridge, Beverage Bridge, Wedding Oak Tree, Huling/Anderson Cemetery (Lampasas), and the Senterfitt Cemetery (Lometa). Legendary cafes include Eve's on the Square in Lampasas (German), Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls (home cooking), Antler's Inn and Hoopers in Kingsland (for Texas Chainsaw Massacre fans), Cooper's Barbecue in Llano (choose your meat right off the grill), and Underwood's Cafeteria in Brownwood (down-home cooking, excellent service). New Kid on the Block, and San Saba's Pecan House Grill (upscale American) are open Wednesday to Saturday.
